African Gem

This painting is inspired by the various semi-precious gem stones that I work with as an artisanal jeweller.

Although part of my Intuitive Abstract series, this painting was completely inspired by our beautiful African Landscape. Trees, grasslands, and our African blue sky, depicted in line and flat panels of colour into which I ‘etched’ nature inspired marks and patterns. The colours are also representational of our landscape in various browns, greens, ochres, yellows, reds, blues, and white.
