I am Tricia Julian. I was born and raised in Cape Town and am proudly South African.
I am a multi-disciplinary artist. I have always been busy creating in some form of art or another. From performing arts (singing, dancing, acting), music, drawing, jewellery goldsmithing, interior decorating, beading, paint special effects, speciality quilting and soft furnishings, watercolours, photography, oils, acrylics, mixed media, etchings, property design, and home makeovers – I’ve done them all!
I draw from all my different experiences and education to create in the present, in the medium of my choice. As an artist, I am continually evolving and growing, and communicating through whichever art form best conveys my ideas and concepts.
I create artisanal jewellery, using my goldsmith training, wirework, both wrapping (newly added here) and forming, to create pieces using silver, copper, and brass metals as well as interesting gemstones; using lapidary to cut, shape and polish most of my own central stones. As a South African I have always been interested in the large range of gemstones available that are not the ‘usual suspects’, and find beauty in their variety, imperfections, and inclusions. My pieces are all one of a kind, handcrafted, wearable art.
When painting, I love doing very large canvases of abstract forms and bold colours, but also enjoy working on super realism stills. I feel that if I were to only create the same thing over and over, do one type of subject matter, it would be very soul destroying and prevent my growth and expansion, so I explore all the time.
I tend to create at the edge of my comfort zone, so that I’m always pushing myself into new directions and never settling into a comfortable rut. I use what I’ve learned or discovered for myself in one discipline to expand and create differently in the others. I think I feel the most free when there is motion and colour in my work and light, always light – it’s who I am.

I am a married mother of two and am always busy. Luckily, I have a loving husband, who supports me in whatever I do. I travel quite a bit and draw on my changing environments and experiences to continuously be inspired. I view my environment and life with intrigue and marvel at even the little things. Looking, discovering, and realizing something new brings me great pleasure.
My purpose in selling my creations is to bring joy and pleasure to the new owners. I want them to enjoy the pieces, whether it’s jewellery or art, and bring them pleasure every time they look at or wear it. I want them to be happy that they own it.
